An issue of scale...

From the start, I've always wanted to keep you in the loop, to explain all of our choices and keep our business as transparent as possible. My single goal is to create miniature historical figurines that all of us can enjoy for years to come. A seemingly simple goal... at least you'd think.

I will be the first to admit, scale is an issue. None of us can decide on a single scale.... heck, we can't even decide on a single term for a single scale!!! Do I market them as 54mm or 1/32? Should I call it the "NEW" 1/32, or call it what it is, 60mm. Or should I be honest about it;

"...if actually measured, this fellow stands at 56.5 mm, while this guy stands at 57mm. This guy, if stretched out probably stands right at 54mm...."

That's not going to be easy to fit on the front of a package. For us, we chose "1/32". Our figures will not all stand the same height. Some will be taller, some will be shorter. We are aiming for an ultra stark realism. People vary in height.... 3-band Springfield rifles do not. Our figures will have individual faces, builds, and uniforms, and we take pride in the fact that our sculptor is able to create figures that you can almost see moving, breathing, telling a story of their own. History is our most compelling guide.

But back to the pickle of our dill.... We made a decision to make our figures match up with what is currently being manufactured. We had no idea if other companies were going to continue to make Civil War figures in what is deemed the traditional 1/32, so we went with the more detailed, possibly slightly larger figures. Our main goal was to be compatible with our good friends at Toy Soldiers of San Diego. We think they've done amazing things in plastic, and we wanted to compliment their Civil War collection. We hope our first six figures have done this.

I've never been more excited about a project than I am right now. Looking at what we've done so far, and the sculpts we are currently working on, I think you'll be happy with what we have to offer..

As always, if you have comments, suggestions, criticisms, or just want to talk toys, feel free to drop us a line at beau@cunnyngham.com. We always look forward to hearing from you. I say "we" because my wife likes to read the emails as well.

I'd keep the same scale your doing 55-58mm to match TSSD and Conte. If some other companies were doing great stuff in the 54mm (airfix,Marx) scale it would be diiferent but they are not. Barzo being resin.
