Some really cool Miniatures

I've been reading a series called A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. It's a work of fantasy, but keeps a realism and grit that you normally don't find in that genre. It really has me enthralled and I would highly suggest it to anyone that doesn't mind something a bit darker.

Anyway, a company that I found out about at Gen-Con this year is doing some excellent miniatures based on the series. The size is not our usual 54mm (a few have been done in the larger size), but rather the standard size for role-playing games... what is that, 28mm? I don't know. But the sculpts are fantastic! The company is called Darksword Miniatures, and they've really done some nice things. Just thought I would pass it along.

I've been on RR Martins website and he is a collecter of metal 54mm medieval figures.

Thanks for the reference. Since reading LOTR and the Hobbit i've been looking for an author who captures the spirit of that genre. Now Beau, It's time to do the King Arthur/Fantasy figures in 1/32!!!

I would LOVE to do King Arthur figures! I would buy it! But I don't really count. :)

And about George RR Martin... it's dark, and more than disturbing in a few places. Not for the squeemish or prudish. Just a warning. Oh, and don't get too attached to any of the characters....

As for authors I'd recommend Magician by RE Feist and the sequels. Lots of human, elve, dwarf action there. Jordan's Wheel of Time series is also very good, the werebeast Trollocks being my favourite there but best of all - anything by David Gemmell. I only read the first of Martin's books, it was good to see unpredictability with characters fates but other stuff didn't work so well for me.
